GRACE WHEREIN WE STAND: Grace for the Meek

Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

James 1:21 KJV

From our previous teachings, we found that true holiness is premised on your maturity which is a product of growth (the transformation of your mind or the salvation of your soul). The Holy Spirit can use the Word of God’s grace to build you up and help you grow. However, one of the things that can slow or limit your growth is not approaching the word of God with sincerity and meekness. You ought to come to God’s word knowing that all things are naked to Him with whom we have to deal (Heb 4:13). If you come to God with idols in your heart, you’re fooling yourself because God will answer you according to the idols in your heart (Ezekiel 14:3-4). What do I mean?

If you come to God hoping. The word of God would second your lifestyle, ideas, human philosophy, tradition or ideology, you’re mistaken. Some people are so opinionated that rather than allowing the Word to determine their belief system and mindset, they’d rather read their minds into the scriptures, force the scripture to second their opinion or outrightly discard or kick against it.

Worse still, today, the bulk of preaching are human phylosophies garbed in scriptural dressing just to accommodate such opinionated people in the church. These don’t help the babies in the Lord. Rather it satiates them and makes them think they’re ok (See Jer 2:13). Human traditions and phylosophies make the word of God of non-effect, worse still is when same is reinforced with the scripture (Mark 7:13). I remember growing up in a denomination with many human traditions were taught as God’s word and the standard of Holiness. We pursued them at the detriment of the true holiness. I couldn’t grow much that way. Instead, most of us covered a lot of inadequacies with pretended holiness that consisted only in outward shows.

But one day, I told God that I was ready to tear down whatever is not built on the truth of the scripture. That was the beginning of my growth. Suddenly, I began to get massive revelations from God’s word. It was as though I had an invincible teacher. He lured me to the Word often, got me hooked to it and taught me often. Soon I discovered walking in Holiness was not so difficult. I just decide to do right and I do it without stress. I shook off old bad habits effortlessly.

If you’re intentional about the salvation of your soul, then you must long for the pure milk of the word of God. You’d need to humble yourself before the Word and receive Him with meekness determined to shape your thought, words and walk according to the dictates of the Word. If you sit as lord over your life, picking and choosing which word of God to live by, you may not grow well. You must come down from your high horse, humble yourself before the Word and before He can transform you

LET US PRAY

Thank you, Father, for your word that builds us up

Father I come meekly to your word. I yield myself to your word, transform my soul after your will

Father let every stronghold and proud argument in the hearts of your children be destroyed in Jesus Name
