There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
1Co 10:13 KJV
Many years ago, I had just started experiencing the power of the grace wherein we stand. Old bad habits no longer felt so compelling. I easily jettisoned them for good ones. Then one day, someone that had authority over me in nearly every dimension tried to bring me into a compromising situation. I knew I wasn’t prepared to resist the person. Then in prayer, I told God I knew this was a test I must pass, but I wasn’t sure if I was prepared for it. So I asked God to postpone the test. Surprisingly, the day the man would have made me sin, he forgot the whole issue and never remembered again till 2 years thereafter. When he eventually did, I was ready and used the opportunity to witness for Christ.
Beyond preparing you to be able to stand, the Holy Spirit can create situations that are consistent with your living a righteous life. Psa 103:14 says, “Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust”. Therefore, He’s faithful, He’d not let you be tempted than you can bear. “When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them along the road through the land of the Philistines, even though it was nearer, because God had said, “If the people face war, they may change their minds and return to Egypt.” (Exodus 13:17 ISV)
God can protect you in a car accident situation such that you disappear from the wreckage and land safely outside without a scratch. But if the faith, intercession or anointing consistent with receiving such a magnitude of incursion of the spirit realm on the earth realm is not immediately available, the Lord may use circumstance to keep you from that ill-fated journey. He may not allow you to get a particular employment if he knows you’re not ready to face the temptation that may come with it. He may put some persons around you to challenge, teach or provoke you unto righteousness. He may put you in a church or cause you to stumble over an online minister whose mandate is to provoke the right living in you
The supply of the spirit is always available for you. God can channel all grace towards you (2Cor 9:8). But many of us walk outside His will and thus unwittingly refuse to stay under His protection. Simple obedience to that still small voice could have saved many Christians from rape, fornication, an accident that led to amputation, lies, compromise etc. God has promised: “I will instruct and teach you about how you should live. I will advise you as I look you in the eye. Do not be like an unintelligent horse or mule, which will not obey you unless they are controlled by a bridle and bit” (Psalm 32:8-9). Learn to yield to the Holy Spirit and He’d lead you away from temptations and if they come, he’d enable you to overcome them effortlessly
