GRACE WHEREIN WE STAND: The Supply of the Spirit

For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

Phi 1:19

Today, I’d begin to talk about the ministry of the Spirit of Grace and the things He does to make you remain standing in Christ no matter what comes our ways. Apart from training our minds by reprogramming it through the “Logos” so we can develop the mind of Christ, there are other things He does. These include the projection of some spiritual influences (which are also properly referred to as grace) towards us, which can either create circumstances that would help us do the right things or otherwise prepare us to properly respond to negative circumstances. These are what I’d refer to as the supply of the Spirit. One of such supplies of the spirit that I’d be discussing today is the preparation of the heart. The scriptures says in Psalms 10:17

“LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear”

Once you’ve made up your mind that whatever comes your way, you’d obey the Lord Christ at all cost, the Lord takes notice of such noble desires. By them, you’re subscribing to the supply of the Spirit and in answer, He’d prepare your heart by channeling grace towards you such that you’d be able to resist the enticement of pleasure and  defy the threats pain. He does this by shedding the love of Christ abroad in your heart (Romans 5:5). The consciousness of the love Christ which is the bond of perfectness (Col 3:14) would get more and more real to you such that it holds you from within compelling you to do the right thing always (2Cor 5:14). That way, He works in you both to will and do of His good pleasure (Phil 2:13) It would get to a point that you’d rather died than disobey Him. This is the might with which the Spirit strengthens you in your inner man to be able to do all things and weather all storms for Christ with all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness (Eph 3:16, Phil 4:13, Col 2:10).

This love doesn’t diminish with trials, rather it gets stronger. It will change your perspective to issues. Like Moses, you’d  “[choose] rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; You’d [esteem] the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: [having] respect unto the recompence of the reward“.

This divine influence is received as you fellowship with the Spirit and the Word of God through the various dimensions of prayers. As you do, it’d get to a point that, like Paul, you can literally say:

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter” (Rom 8:35-36).

LET US PRAY

Heavenly Father, thank you for the ministry of the Holy Spirit upon my life

I receive the supply of the Spirit to help me stand for you forever in Jesus Name

Father, I pray that you would open the eyes of your church that we may acknowledge the Ministry of the Spirit of grace that by it, we may grow into Christ in all things including our character.
