By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God

Romans 5:2

There is something within every child of God that makes him to be uncomfortable with sin. As soon as you become born again, one of the first things you are conscious of is an obligation to live a righteous life. For so long, this sincere desire has raised an age long question of how to be wholly free from sin and not fall into it again. The devil has used this sincere sense of obligation to ambush some dear believers and caused them to be ineffective by afflicting them with the conscience and consciousness of sin.

Many have deployed all they know and all that’s within their ability to stand in purity all to no avail. Soon and again they fall into one sin or the other. For a while, Christian teachers taught self-discipline, willpower, vows and covenants, etc as means living the righteous life. Others have admonished Christians to explore the option of fasting. But if you have been in the church for a while, you would know that the sense of purity felt in the time of fasting is merely a product of the state of our minds as created by the teachings we have been exposed to. After the fasting period, the general feeling of “ordinariness” starts to creep in. There are many people that sin even more during and after their fasting. First on the list of their sin is the sin of gluttony and greed which they manifest in their hearts throughout the fast and physically as soon as the fast is called off.

Beloved, if you can relate with the issues I have described above, God is aware of your sincere struggles. He has therefore made available for you the grace by which you can stand not only justified before God, but also morally upright before men. By this grace, you’d not only be legally righteous based on the finished work of Jesus Christ, you’d also walk in righteousness bearing the fruits of righteousness to the glory of God the Father. If it is by grace therefore that we stand; if it is by grace that we walk uprightly before God, then the first thing that you must do dear Christian, is to discard trust in self or man-made principle and learn the unforced rhythm of Grace. You’d need to come to the throne of Grace and there obtain mercy and find grace to help in your need/obligation to stand and stand and walk uprightly.

Father, thank you for the grace that is made available for me to stand and walk uprightly before you and before men

I let go of all my dependence on human abilities and principles. I come to the throne of Grace today and I receive mercy and grace to help me stand till the end

Father, cause your church to understand the word of your grace that we may grow up and stand thereby giving all glory to your name.
