TEXT: Prov 3:5&6

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths

Folks who have just given their lives to Jesus often have this feeling that they have made a pledge to live a Holy and a consecrated christian life and as such have the obligation to make it work. Thus many have expended a lot of energy trying not to sin all to no avail. Let me tell you the truth; you have no business TRYING not to sin. You shouldn’t be doing that. You don’t need to TRY to live a Holy life. What you should be doing is to concentrate on growing  up by feeding on the word of God. As you do so, Holiness will flow naturally out of you as a natural characteristic of a healthy Christian life

Fine,  you may not yet be able to fully operate as mature Christians should. You may have a hard time keeping your mind from wandering into fear, lust and doubt. You may even stumble and fall into some errors or sins. Don’t loss heart. Just rise up again and keep ingesting the Word of God. Don’t remain on the floor of sin. Don’t stay there. Give God your hands. He’d lift you up. When your toddler falls while learning to walk, you don’t spank him, do you? You lift him up and encourage him. God is more lovely than men. He’d lift you up, cleans you and set you on your feet again (see 1John 1:9).

When you try by your own effort to live a consecrated life, or for that matter, to do anything to achieve what Christ gives freely, you are making a costly mistake. You are abandoning the spring of the living water and diggin for yourself cisterns, broken cisterns that can’t hold water (Jer 2:13) . Has God not told you to trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding (Prov 3:5)?

Beloved, Delight yourself in the Word of God. Seat at the feet of the Holy Spirit our great Teacher and Feed on God’s Word voraciously through meditation. Then each day as you step out, declare that the lust of the flesh has been crucified and has no hold over you; decide to live for Christ. Don’t ask “How are you going to be able to live up to your decision?” That question is an emblem of faithlessness. Just trust Jesus. You’d count your blessings at the end of the day and testify to God’s faithfulness. I’m a witness.

Prov 3:5-6
Jer 2:13
Matt 11:28

Thank You Lord Jesus for the rest I have in you. I have been crucified with Jesus. I live the life of Jesus by Faith. Sin cannot manifest in my any longer.

Father I pray, Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.

Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear.

Turn away my reproach which I fear: for thy judgments are good.

Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: in thy righteousness, quicken me after thy word
