HOW TO PREDICT YOUR OWN FUTURE

For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.

James 3:2-3

We sometimes wish we could predict and control our future. If we could we would have made our today much better. Many have sought for solution everywhere but the right place. But there’s wisdom in the statement of Abraham Lincoln when he said, The best way to predict your future is to create it. Oh how true! But how? God has clearly stated how to take charge of your life and determine the course of your future. You can literarily determine the course of your destiny. In fact you can create your desired future. God’s word states how.

What God is saying today is that if you can control your tongue you can control your life. Your tongue is to your life as the rudder is to a ship or a steering wheel is to a car. It will be very difficult to turn a moving car to a desired direction without the steering wheel. In much the same way, your tongue determines your course because Death and life are in the power of the tongue ( Pro 18:21) Whatever you consistently say will eventually happen. If you keep speaking lack, you will be in want.

The circumstances of your life will try to make you talk negativity. But train yourself to speak only the truth. The truth is not the same thing as the fact. God’s word is the truth (John 17:17). The truth about your health, for example, is that by the stripes of Jesus yea were healed. The fact may be that you have symptoms of sickness. Refuse to speak the fact. Speak the truth. Any fact that does not align with the word of God is a lie. For let God be true, but every man a liar (Rom 3:4).

You must be determined to speak only what the Lord God says concerning you. That is the truth. As you keep saying it, you will have it. Even habits will go if you stop saying you have them. Rather, say that you are born of God and whatever is born of God sinneth not. Keep saying that sin cannot have dominion over you because you live under grace. Your confession of faith today is the prophesy of your tomorrow. We prophesy according to the proportion of faith that we’ve stirred while beholding the perfect law of liberty (Romans 12-6)
