MYSTERY OF CHRISTIAN RIGHTEOUSNESS

But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

Romans 3:21-22

It is not difficult to explain to man that all have sinned because everything in and around him indicates that he is far from righteousness. In fact People wonder and even object when Christians claim to be righteous. True, “…by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men...” (Romans 5:12). The proof that man is doomed to death is the manifestation of the agents of death over him which include, sickness, barrenness in whatever dimension, moral decadence and eventual physical death

But when Jesus came to save man, he did not simply plead with the Father to forgive man he took man’s condemnation. and judgement upon himself. So he literarily died our death. The agents of death worked on him fully. Sickness was laid on him in form of 39 terrible stripes (1Pet 2:24). He took our poverty that we may be rich (2Cor 8:9). He bore the ultimate curse by hanging on a tree (Gal 3:13). He died the death of a sinner thus bearing the judgement passed on the soul that sinneth who shall die.
By the same principle of exchange, Jesus gave us His righteousness and by the same principle by which death passed unto all men through the sin of one man, when Jesus resurrected, the eternal life that Jesus has is passed unto all that believe that God raised Him from the death (Romans 5:15-19)

Thus when you receive Jesus into your life, you appropriate Jesus’ death as your own death. In God’s sight, you died with Jesus. You paid the full penalty in Jesus. To this end, God can not be just to still hold you guilty or liable to judgement. That is why He declares a Christian righteous

that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus” (Romans 3:26).

In fact, that is why a Christian will not face judgement on the last day because he has already been judged in Christ and has passed from death to life. Thus, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit (Romans 8:1).

Can you see the glorious life God has called us into? It calls for daily celebration and jubilation. This is the message of grace. If then you are not yet in, what are you waiting for? Its free of charge. Just believe sincerely in your heart that Jesus died for your sin and that God raised Jesus from the dead. Then having decided fully to surrender your life to him, confess Him as your Lord and you are in!
