TEXT: Gen 49:22-24

Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall: The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him: But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)

Recently, we learnt that man was created to be fruitful. Satan tried to rob man of his fruitfulness potential by setting him against God but Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil and turned us back to the Father thus restoring us to fruitfulness. Just like Joseph the fruitful bough by the well, every disciple of Jesus is called to be fruitful having been planted by the river of the Living water (John 15:16, Psalm 1:1-6). Having lost the first ground in your life, satan has since resorted to the use of the hordes of hell to fight against the fruitfulness of God’s children as typified by the archers that have sorely vexed Joseph the fruitful bough.

But if you submit to the Lordship of Jesus by becoming his disciple (a doer of the Word) it doesn’t matter if all hell set themselves in battle array against you. They shall fall for your sake. Like Joseph, your hand would have been made strong by the Mighty Hand of the God of Israel. God himself says:

“Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways! I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries”. (Ps 81:13-14)

Having submitted to the Lord, all you need to do is to resist the devil. This means you don’t just stand there waiting for oppositions to go on their own accord. They’d not leave until they have done sufficient damage. You’re to resist them. Even though Jesus was in the boat, it did not deter satan from stirring the wind against Jesus’ boat. But the moment Jesus rebuked the wind, it stopped. Go ahead and rebuke the devil and he will flee from you. You must arise and rebuke every wind raging against you and every archer that is shooting at your fruitfulness. You have the authority of the Sovereign God to do this. The devil shall flee from you eventually in Jesus Name.

Father, thank you for making me fruitful and sustaining me by the river of life

I confess that Jesus is my Lord. I live to do your will Father

I declare that I am made strong by the arm of the Almighty God and I prevail over every force if darkness

I rebuke the devil and his agents that have set themselves against my fruitfulness this year

I declare I am fruitful in Jesus Name.
