TEXT: Luke 23:39-42
And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.  And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

The malefactor (as he is called in our text) is actually crucified and facing his last moments on earth, he seizes the moment. In one desperate cry he turned the course of his destiny. He is on the brink of everlasting torment in hell. But just before he falls into eternal doom, one sentence saves him. He calls to the Lord. He didn’t have the time to weep over his sins and the consequence. He had an audacity of faith and dared to ask for life in paradise. Guess what? He got it. He was the first man, evidently, to enter into paradise without feeling the power of the lord of hades because he walked in with the Lord of Life.

Life is ruled by stiff laws including the law of sowing and reaping. The scriptures says “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” (Gal 6:7). You might have started reaping the consequences of your life of sin. Death might be lurking around you because your hands are stained with blood. You might be having challenges with childbirth because of your many abortions. Well  I have a good news for you. “whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Rom 10:13). And “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” (John 8:36). Yes! You shall be free also from the consequences of your wickedness. Friends that is the only way of escape from the sword of Damocles that’s now dangling over your head!

Have you given your life to Jesus and your past or its consequences still seems to hunt you? Just as that condemned criminal called and within split seconds before his eternal destruction he was saved irrespective of his track record of wickedness, Jesus can turn the negative consequences of your life around. God says, “…if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2Cor 5:17). Old things includes your old life of wickedness and the old condemnation you were supposed to receive.

Seize the moment dearly beloved, call upon Him now and you shall be saved.

Have you strayed out of the path of righteousness denying the Lord, call upon Him in penitence and the Lord that restored Peter who denied Him shall restore you too. He is faithful and just to forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness (1John 1:9)

Thank you Father for the grace to call on Jesus and  be saved

Father I confess my sins to you (confess them one after the other) I plead the blood of Jesus. Please forgive me and cleans me from all unrighteousness for thy name sake.

Father in your mercy save me from the consequences of my life in sin

It is written, “if the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” I receive complete deliverance in Jesus Name
