But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Recently, we found out that the power of resurrection can be appropriated by the Christian only after the Holy Spirit is come upon him (Acts 1:8).
Every Christian has the Holy Spirit in Him. In fact, If you don’t have the Holy Spirit in you, you’re definitely not a part of Christ (Rom 8:9). You received the Holy Spirit the day you received Christ into your heart. He brings the presence of the Father and the Son into your heart (as Jesus promised in John 14:23). He doesn’t come and go. He is always in you and would be in you forever (John 14:16). When the Spirit is within you, you can decide to still run your life by yourself using your sensory perceptions thus relegating Him to the background. You can also allow Him to lead you and cause you to walk by faith.
However there’s another different condition when the Holy Spirit is not just in you, but upon you. When the spirit is come upon you, he is in control of you. This is the state of being filled with the Spirit. Just picture the horse and it’s rider. The rider of the horse is upon the horse to control and determine the movement of the horse. Such is the picture when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. He takes over control from you.
This may not always be the case. It happens only when you’ve totally yielded yourself and your will to Him through prayer and deep meditation on God’s word. That is why in the book of Acts, you’d notice the Holy Spirit falling on the same Christian(s) in more than one ocassions. See Acts 4:24-33. But whenever it happens, the resultant effect is the demonstration of the Spirit and/or the demonstration of power. Learn to yield to the Holy Spirit today and operate in power in Jesus Name
Thank you Father for the gift of the Holy Spirit
Father I yield myself to the Holy Spirit and I surrender myself to your will let your spirit fall upon me now in Jesus name
Father let your spirit fall upon the church again and cause an unusual move of your power in our midst
Father let your spirit brood over our land and give us peace.
