TEXT: Judges 6:12-13
12 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.
13 And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.
The Israelites were under oppression at the hand of the Midianites. One unique thing about these oppressors was that they had no problem with the Israelites toiling to make ends meet. But once it was time for them to reap the fruit of their labour, these Midianites came and dispossessed them of their harvest. They came in such number and force that the Israelites had to vacate their own land and go to hide in caves.
You may be experiencing the same challenge. You might have had so much experience in failure at the edge of success that success seem almost an impossibility. Your experience might have made you think that God has abandoned you. Gideon felt that way too. Though he did not deny the greatness of God neither did he deny that God had intervened mightily in their lives before now; but the oppression was so real that, to His mind, God has turned His back on them. That is exactly where the devil wants to get you. He knows that at this point it will be hard to deny the existence or power of God, so his target is to make you loss hope in the love of God and His willingness to help you.
Beloved, God loves you more than you can ever know. He is more desperate for your help than you can imagine. So rather than wait for you to have challenges before intervening, He has already prepared all you need to get out of your present challenge and put your enemies to flight. You have all it takes to be successful and be celebrated. You have all it takes to put your enemies to flight. Yes It is in you!
You don’t need anybody to pity you. You don’t need to run from pillar to post. When God met with Gideon, he called him a mighty man of valour. By the time God was done with getting Gideon to see His love and the fact that He was with Gideon, The fearful Gideon became the answer to the question of his generation. The fearful Gideon became the mighty man of valour that God has made Him.
You see, fear has a crippling effect. Fear has a torment. But love cast out all fears (1John 4:18). No matter what your challenge is: habits, sin, poverty, sickness, e.t.c., once you can contemplate the love of God, the power to put an end to it will rise up from within you. Open yourself to the love of God. It is the beginning of success. Be still and know, God loves you
- Father, thank you because you have always been with me
- Father, open my eyes to see your love
- Father open my eyes to what you have made me
- Father, arise within me and destroy every enemy of my breaktrough in Jesus Name
- Now pray for the church that God will raise up mighty men of valour to do exploits for God
- Pray that the Lord will open the eyes of the church to the dept length, height and width of God’s love
- Pray for the Nation that God will raise up mighty men of valour in various areas of our existence to put our enemies to flight
