And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever

Exodus 13:13

Moses’ instruction to Jews was not stand “still (passively waiting) and you WILL see the salvation of the Lord”. Rather He said “stand still and see…” What he was saying was that they should relax and consider, contemplate, visualize and fix their attention on the salvation that God has for them and not the condition thy found themselves. The people were commanded to take a break and visualize their salvation as against looking at their challenges.

Whatever has your attention in the time of crisis, whatever you focus your mind on will determine your outcome. Abraham had a very nagging challenge. His wife was barren. God promised him to make him the father of nations yet he could not father a boy for another 25 years. He had every reason in the world to cry and whine and charge God with unfaithfulness to his word. But Abraham remained strong in faith. He hoped against hope. Do you know why Abraham did not stagger or vacillate between faith and unbelief?

“…he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb” (Romans 4:19)

He was not looking at his condition. He was looking at what God said. Peter could walk on th sea because the Word of Jesus was more real to him than the storm. He only began to sink when he considered the waves, when his attention shifted from the Word to the happenings around him. (Matt 14:29-30)

What you focus your attention on will determine your status. If you keep on considering the doctor’s report, the bank account, how your body feels, the bad dream you had, you will not be able to stand firm in faith. You will be defeated by unbelief.. But if you focus your attention on what the word of God says; if what you are seeing in every crisis is the salvation God has given you in Christ, it will definitely become your reality! Choose to look away from your condition and look unto your salvation. Whatever you can perceive you will receive. If your attention is continually fixed on God, you will not waver in faith. You will be strong in faith and you will receive the deliverance that God has given.
